More Money for Education in Europe
The EU commission has proposed an education budget of EUR 15.2 billion for the years 2014-2020. Compared to 2007-2013, this represents an increase of more than 60%.
The entire budget is intended to be directed towards the new "Education for Europe" programme. The increased budgetary allocation will, on the one hand, allow a higher level of grants for studying and training abroad, and on the other, give a targeted boost to modernisation of education systems, cross-border cooperation between educational establishments and political reform. The commission will present detailed proposals for the new programme in the autumn.
